SOAP TALK: Part One

Today is a day for me to talk about some soaps! I'm breaking it into 2 parts and the second one will be scent reviews of some more Aunt Nancy's soaps I ordered.

Part 1 is about The Bee Facial Bar. Woo hoo, my custom made soaps for my shop from Nancy of Aunt Nancy's Handmade Soap arrived today and I can barely contain my excitement!

Here is the full description of The Bee Facial Bar:

Once upon a time, I made cold process soaps. This was before my children were old enough to roam the house on their own and I felt safe using sodium hydroxide to make soap. Now that they are 3 and 5, it is not safe to keep this in the house, even when locked away. I just don't want to take that chance.

I have been wanting to bring my customers a wonderfully luxurious facial bar with my favorite Buckwheat Honey from Doan's Farm in nearby Hamlin, New York. I wanted to infuse it with Royal Jelly and Vitamin E, as well as my favorite cleansing & nourishing oils.

I asked my friend Nancy Goodwin in Tucson if she would be willing to make the bars for me with my local honey and my favorite royal jelly. We collaborated on this even though we're almost 3000 miles apart. The result of this is the Bee Facial Bar!

Who can use this? -- Anyone! This is free of essential oils and fragrance. It is extra gentle and will be an ideal gentle cleanser for all skintypes. If you're worried about dehydrated skin, the olive oil and wheat germ will nourish your skin and help to improve the skin's radiance. Oilier types will be happy with the lightweight grapeseed oil.

In Depth:

Wheat Germ  Oil is a wonderfully unrefined oil and is one of the richest sources of Vitamin D, protective E, A, protein and lecithin. This makes a wonderful oil for skin that is cracked and dry, as well as for those with eczema.

Rice Bran Oil can help reduce inflammation and skin irritation. It absorbs very quickly without leaving a film on the skin. This oil is antioxidant-rich, as it contains vitamin E and gammaoryzanol. Rice Bran is a great, lightweight oil to give your skin a velvety feel.

Coconut Oil is fantastic. I use virgin coconut oil as my main source of body moisture after bathing. It has been shown to help combat aging and is very similar in its moisturizing qualities to mineral oil without being derived from crude oil. Just about everyone can use this oil. It's great for all skintypes! I even use this as a natural treatment for my keratosis pilaris.

Olive Oil is another fabulous skin oil.  Olive oil is highly protective. It contains so many vitamins to nourish the skin, and it is rich in fatty acids to keep your skin supple. It is a tremendous antioxidant as well.

Buckwheat Honey is cleansing and antibacterial, while being so gentle. This type of honey is the best for the skin as well, as it contains more antioxidants than any other dark variety. This comes from a local honey farm near Rochester.

Royal Jelly is a gem. It contains vitamins A, B-1, 2, 3, 4, B-6; C, D, and E, as well as biotin, folic acid, and inositol. In addition to these powerful radiance-enhancing vitamins, it contains the minerals calcium, chromium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, potassium, silicon, sulphur, and zinc, in addition to 18 amino acids. It is a skin care powerhouse.

Each bar is a generous 5 oz. (as close as possible to this) and comes to you in a recycled Kraft box.
